10. Colosseum, Italy
This is the spot where Caesar once walked and where gladiators battled. It is known by another name, the Flavian Amphitheatre and is built out of concrete and sand. Much of the Colosseum has gotten disintegrated throughout the years, but it still is a marvel to view. It attracts over 4 million spectators a year.
9. Christ The Redeemer, Brazil
This statue is located at the Peak of Corcovado Mountain which is in the Tijuca Forest National Park. The peak is about 700 meters high. The statue spans a length of 39.6 meters and is known to be the largest art deco statue in the world. It is made out of soapstone and concrete.
8. Easter Island, Chile
This island is located in the Pacific Ocean and is an isolated island of Chile. The Moai statues on the island are the only thing left as a reminder of the civilization that once existed there. The stones are carved with intricate detail. They are made up of volcanic ash.
7. Tikal, Guatemala
Tikal is a Mayan town-state. It is one of the largest preserved ruins of this pre-Columbian civilization. It is easily accessible from Belize. The citadel is in the rainforests of northern Guatemala. It dates back possibly to the 1st century A.D. The city was later abandoned after 850 A.D. The iconic ruins include the Lost World Pyramid and the Temple of the Grand Jaguar.

This is one of the world’s Most Famous Historical Places 2017.
4. Persepolis, Iran
This city was created after Darius, a Peirisan ruler, wanted a ceremonial capital. There are many monumental buildings located on an artificial stone terrace. There is a double staircase which was made for horses to be able to travel from the plains to the top of the terrace. The Gate of Xerces is at the head of the staircase which is safeguarded by carved stone bulls.
3. Machu Picchu, Peru
Located in southern Peru, it is a breathtaking mountaintop historical site. It is only reachable by train or a four day trek. This was a cultural hub for the Inca civilization, and is referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas”. It was one of the Seven Wonders of the World in 2007.

Petra means rock and is an archaeological city in Jordan. It is known for its rock cut architecture and the water conduit system. It is located among the mountains of Arabah. It has been named as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This site dates back to about 300 BC. It was the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. Its nickname is “Rose City”.

The recent theory of physicists is that they poured water on the sand in front of the objects they were pulling to create wet sand, which halves the pulling force. However the pyramids were built, they are an astonishing site to view!
