Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was born to a family of educationists on 24th April 1973 at Nirmal Nursing Home, Dadar. His father Ramesh was a renounced Marathi Poet, and a professor who taught Marathi literature in a college, and his mother Rajni worked for LIC. Sachin spent his childhood years at Sahitya Sahawas Cooperative Housing Society, a government housing complex for writers and poets located at East Bandra. He was named after the family’s favourite music director and singer Sachin Dev Burman. He has three elder half-siblings from his father’s side, two half brothers Nitin and Ajit and a half sister Savita. Sachin Tendulkar started his schooling at Indian Eduction Society’s New English School which was closer to his home. At the age of 11, his brother Ajit took him to the coaching stalwart Ramakant Achrekar.
