Drake was born to Dennis Graham, an African-American Catholic from Memphis, Tennessee. Drake’s father is a musician. He was the drummer for country artist Jerry Lee Lewis. Drake’s paternal uncles are late songwriter Teenie Hodges and bass guitarist Larry Graham. Teenie Hodges was the songwriter for a majority of Al Green’s hits. Drake’s mother is white Jewish Canadian and worked as an English teacher and florist in Toronto. Drake’s parents divorced when he was five.
